Lee Bowyer refelcts on “bad day” as the only positive comes from fan favourite

|

Charlton manager Lee Bowyer did not hold back on his team’s lacklustre performance against Middlesbrough yesterday afternoon as his side fell to a disappointing 1-0 defeat at The Riverside.

Speaking with Louis Mendez after the game for The South London Press the Charlton manager had this to say

“He was a little bit off of it but you could see what we’ve missed”

“He fights, he competes for every ball. He puts dangerous balls into the box. The ball he hit got a good block from the defender, that was flying. That would have ended up in the back of the net. The most important thing is that he’s back. We got 45 minutes into him. We’ll try and do the same on Tuesday.”

Let’s hope that we can get more than 45 minutes into him on Tuesday I mean I wouldn’t want to rush him back or anything but we certainly have missed what he brings to the table and to see him back playing in red and white (black and purple in this case) is a thing of beauty.

With a very busy week coming up at The Valley, the two-midweek visits of Huddersfield Town and Hull City could be seen as overkill on our injury-hit squad.

I have never heard of something like this happening before (although it probably happens almost every week) and especially at a time where we need rest more than anything it really is going to hit us hard in this Christmas period, but all we can do as fans is get behind the boys and make some noise!
