It’s official, Aiden McGeady has arrived on loan from Sunderland in a deal that will have fans divided because of his age and then his ability as the 33-year-old enters the latter stages of his career after being forced out by The Black Cats.
This is an exciting signing, he is still quite a decent player and if anyone is moaning about his age just take a look at Darren Pratley and tell me if his age matters when he’s on the pitch.
Only downside to this is that he is injury prone and with the state, we know our squad can get into this is not a very smart signing, but it’s another body through the door none the less.
Bowyer spoke to the club website after securing McGeady’s services and here is what he had to say.
Are you happy with Aiden McGeady joining the club?
Yes
No
“He’s got experience, he’s played in Europe and for his country. We’re bringing in a very good, experienced player. Coming into the back end of the season experience can be important, Darren Pratley showed that in the play-off games last season.”
Only thing is with Aiden’s experience that involves being relegated with Sunderland, not that he wasn’t the best player in their team that season (excluding Jonny Williams of course) but still that’s the only experience I can see of him in a relegation battle in the Championship so hopefully he feels he’s got a point to prove.
McGeady has played 15 times for Sunderland this season scoring 4 times and assisting twice. He also has Champions League experience as well as Premier League experience.

Yes was a good player but note he is injury prone so more than a good fit for CAFC and yes as for Pratley agree but he would not have expected to play just about every game for CAFC
