Alan Pardew has been dealt a massive blow as his hopes of re-signing Scotty Carson have been crushed by Liverpool.
Carson was last season`s player of the year at The Valley and Alan Pardew was hoping to bring the youngster back to the club again.
However Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez has confirmed Carson will stay at Anfield and be involved with the first team.
Talking to Liverpool`s official web site he said: ‘I was speaking to Scott recently and I told him he will be part of our first-team squad next season.
‘He must fight with Pepe Reina now for a starting place. We knew when we fought off Chelsea to sign him he was a talented goalkeeper.
‘He got some good experience last season and now he is coming back to us.’
Pardew will now have to find the club a new number one with only young goal keeper’s on the clubs books.
Roy Carroll could be on his way from West Ham.
Good Luck Scotty you were superb last season and you should be England No 1 Soon enough.
Ooh Scotty Carson, Ooh Scotty Carson.

Great keeper. Will be a world class keeper by the age of 25. Good Luck Scotty
Well, I think he will only stick around one season. Liverpool’s first-team keeper is young and will not easiy be challenged.
If he does go our door will always be open.
He was a great success with you last season so hopefully he’ll be back in time!
benitez wants Carson in first eleven, thats a turn around. I was confident he was on his way, sorry lads. Back in time for what Sandgroanun??
If it doesn’t work out at Pool he could be back sooner than we think!
