Charlton look to be after Premier League striker

|

As the search for new players starts rolling and our need to replace Jonathan Leko being a priority, many options will arise, but it needs to be the right one.

However, we may be looking to a veteran striker and a former Charlton man himself and that is Sheffield United’s, Leon Clarke. According to FootballInsider24/7 Chris Wilder is willing to sell to 34-year-old after falling down the pecking order at Brammall Lane.

His time at Charlton before was far from incredible he played seven games and scored a resounding nothing, so I don’t think a deal for Leon would be seen as great business as his recent goalscoring record has not been great either.

Also when he was at Charlton he was loaned out three times to Crawley Town, Scunthorpe United and loaned and then sold to Coventry City where he shone for The Sky Blues scoring 28 in 45 games.

He can score goals but the thing is can he still do it at this age in the second tier?

I really don’t think this deal will go through, he is probably way past it now but would be good experience for the youngsters to be around, although he has only scored 6 in his 39 Championship appearances for Sheffield United and Wigan.

It will be interesting to see if we are actually pursuing an interest in him, but only time will tell when Bowyer speaks on the matter.
