Charlton figure reacts to good news coming out of the club

|

Many of the people who work behind the scenes are extremely hard workers, doing jobs that they are not even paid to do most of the time, but Director of Football Steve Gallen is a great example of the saying ‘hard work pays-off’, going from head of recruitment to the director of football in three years.

Can you name every league position Charlton has finished in within the last 20 years? I bet you can’t but feel free to prove me wrong!

Where did Charlton finish in the 2019/20 season?

Steve Gallen also tends to look after the player’s contracts and he has today managed to sign up Josh Davison and Albie Morgan on multi-year contracts pleasing many of the Addicks fans.

Many questions have been raised about the new owners of ESI, but so far they haven’t really done anything wrong, but at the same time we don’t know much about this new consortium.

I would love to know who these people are so we can search them up and piece together if they are trustworthy or have enough money to run the club, but so far we are in the dark.

But they have signed up all the players on short term deals to keep them at the club for the rest of the season and they have also put Morgan and Davison on extended deals, so that’s great for the club.

Steven Gallen orchestrated those deals and as we all know he has become a fan favourite since it was revealed how hard he has worked inside the club.

Gallen spoke to the club’s official website after Josh Davison and Albie Morgan signed their contract extensions and here is what he had to say

“Albie is a very good technical football player but what he has improved on this season and in the period that we were off, is that he has come back with a better mentality to win, to close down, to run, to get up the pitch and if he wants to have a good career he has to keep that going. With that good mentality plus his ability, then we’ve got a good player on our hands.

“We offered Josh a contract and he was delighted to sign it, it was the easiest negotiation I think I’ve ever had, he is that desperate to play for us. His representatives were very, very good as well. He’s still developing, he’s still got a lot to learn but I’m really pleased to have him.

“Signing these two players was made easy because they both want to be at the club. Their signings show we are starting to make steps forward again.”

Great to hear that Josh was so willing to sign, it shows his passion and ambition to play regular first-team football and I think at one point he could become clinical striker and regular goalscorer he just needs to listen and take in what is being taught to him.

With Albie, I think he just needs to keep his cool and again take in what is being taught to him, but from what we have all seen from him you can tell he has quality about him and I reckon he just needs the mentorship of Lee Bowyer to become a player like what Bowyer was.

They are both hungry to play for Charlton and I can’t wait to see what their future holds.
