Bowyer announces striker to return by next week

|

Charlton’s injury woes seem to finally be coming to an end with just striker Macauley Bonne looking to make his return against Nottingham Forest away on Tuesday night, other than that everyone seems to be fit except for Deji Oshilaja who has twisted his ankle and will miss Saturday’s trip up to wet and windy Stoke City.

Can you get 12/12 on this Charlton History Quiz? I bet you can’t, but feel free to prove me wrong!

Who was Charlton's first-ever manager?

The Zimbabwe international who has appeared twice for his national side has not played since our 2-1 defeat to Derby County where Bonne’s injury problem started as he completed just half of the game due to a hamstring injury, but he is set to return to action this coming Tuesday.

Lee Bowyer spoke with Richard Cawley from The South London Press and here is what he had to say

“He could train Sunday and Monday with us, because we play Tuesday it means we’ll train Sunday and Monday.

“It’s how he comes through his next few days of rehab.

“I saw him outside on Tuesday and he was literally sprinting – going fast – so he can’t be far off it.”

It sounds like he is not too far off it now and is almost a certainty for a place on the bench when we travel to The City Ground, by the way we got the sing Valley Floyd Road loud and proud on Tuesday as those Forest fans reckon their version of Mull of Kintyre is better than ours?!?!?! Give it a rest!

Macca has scored eight goals in nineteen games whilst providing one assist, Bonne has also completed 1,487 Championship minutes since making the step up from The National League with newly promoted Leyton Orient which goes to show how quick he has developed.

I hope you all have a safe trip up to both Stoke and Forest and lets hope for all six points out of these important fixtures!
