Will Lyle Taylor Rub Salt Into The Wound Of Brentford? | Match Preview

|

Tomorrow, Charlton will face the club that made bids up to £4 million for Lyle in the summer transfer window. Charlton have a chance to make matters worse for Brentford who have struggled in front of goal.

After a great start to the Championship, Charlton have gained 8 points from 4 games. Still unbeaten at home for over 320 days, the Addicks are confident at The Valley and will be looking to make it 11 points from 5 and extend their unbeaten records at home and in the league.

Brentford have had a decent start to the season a win and a draw from 4 games with 1-0 losses to both Birmingham and Leeds. Like Charlton, they also got knocked out of the Carabao Cup on penalties. The Bees will want to take all 3 points from us today to get back to winning ways.

MANAGER TALK

Vital Charlton was there to speak to The Addicks boss, Lee Bowyer: “It’s a tough one. Brentford are a good footballing side, so they will be a fest for us.

“The mood around the place is very high. It’s carrying in from last season and we’ve taken that momentum into this year. We’ve added good quality, so everything is positive and that comes down to hard work.”

TEAM NEWS

Charlton

Charlton’s Lewis Page and Beram Kayal are still out injured. Chris Solly’s concussion has also got him sidelined for tomorrow’s fixture.

Brentford

Brentford haven’t got any suspensions or players out injured.

HEAD TO HEAD

Charlton have played 50 games against Brentford in the past, winning 25, drawing 8 and losing 17. The last time we played the Bees was a 2-1 win on 5 March 2016 with Callum Harriott scoring both of our goals.

MY OPINION

2 points per game on average is really good, and keeping that up for a whole season gets you promoted, but my worry lays in January where we may see Lyle Taylor leave to the likes of Brentford or maybe even better. We just have to make the most of him whilst he’s still here.

I’ll be hoping for the 3 points tomorrow. I believe we have the advantage with our record and with our squad depth and amount of quality subs on the bench. However, as long as we don’t lose, I’ll be happy.
