The League 1 season continued with the latest round of games played over the weekend.
Sheffield United extended their lead with a win as Shrewsbury climbed out of the bottom 4 above Bury. Chesterfield, Oldham and Coventry make up the relegation zone.

The action got underway as Bury missed the chance to pull clear of relegation trouble when they drew 2-2 with Port Vale – now unbeaten in three – on Friday in the game at Vale Park.
Sheffield United saw a lead lost before coming back to secure a 2-2 draw against Gillingham to ensure it wasn’t back-to-back defeats. The lead was extended over promotion rivals Scunthorpe and Bolton but they didn’t have a game as they were called off.
Bradford – who are in a play-off place sitting in 5th – and Millwall played out a 1-1 draw at Valley Parade. The Lions are now six unbeaten but this was a third successive draw leaving a five point gap between them and a play-off place.
As Chesterfield’s goal difference is inferior to their rivals the Spireites would have remained in the relegation zone even with a win. They were held to a 0-0 with Wimbledon at the Proact Stadium.
The last 10 games have been a real contrast for Coventry and Fleetwood. A last minute winner secured the Cod Army – to take them up to 4th – a 1-0 win at the Ricoh Arena to extend the unbeaten run. However, the Sky Blues winless run was increased after defeat so they remain bottom of the table.
An eight goal thriller at the stadium:mk saw MK Dons run out 5-3 winners against Northampton to move clear of a relegation battle. The Cobblers though – after a fifth straight defeat and an eighth in the last 10 – are now only four points from the relegation zone.
Rochdale’s five game winning run was ended last weekend with Dale heavily beaten again with Oxford going away from Spotland with a 4-0 win.
The relegation battle between Shrewsbury and Oldham saw the Shrews extend an unbeaten run to three to move out of the bottom 4 above Bury. The Latics – who were also looking to make it three unbeaten – slipped to a 1-0 defeat at Greenhous Meadow remaining second bottom and now six points from safety.
Swindon’s unbeaten run was ended when they lost 1-0 at the County Ground leaving the Robins just three points above the bottom 4 now. Peterborough’s – a first win in five – victory move them to within four points of the play-off places.
Having beaten league leaders Sheffield United in the last game impressively Walsall made it back-to-back wins when recording a 3-1 win over another promotion chasing side Bristol Rovers. The Pirates have now lost two in a row to lose further ground on the top 7.
The games at the Valley between Charlton and Scunthorpe – who could have returned to the top with a win – and promotion rivals Southend – looking to move into the top 7 again – and Bolton – aiming to close the gap on the automatic promotion places – were called off due to frozen pitches.
