Trials and Tribulations.

There are many things ordinary football supporters cannot quite get their heads around. In hindsight it is probably for the best, leaving it to those whom we trust to get things right.
The new season is approaching fast and we hope for a few pleasant surprises to rekindle our enthusiasm for the game.
Why are there still alarm bells ringing warning us that we are in for a fight to make some sort of an impact in the Championship come the big kick-off? To rub salt in our wounds we are third favourites to be relegated and rank outsiders to be promoted with some betting sites giving odds as high as 20/1! Cheers for that!
Reading between the lines every Charlton supporter can make up his or her own mind whether we have the right mix for when we face our seasons opening match at Welling. Our supporters will get their first glimpse of the team that will probably represent us in a very competitive Championship League match.
Keeping up with the Joneses so to speak! I hear a lot of football banter, some of which I take on board. Ordinary supporters are cringing at the thought that we will once again be left behind struggling to compete in this division with some of the big boys, like Fulham and Cardiff.
I don`t want to sound negative regarding our chances. I read that we are still lightweight on the wings, defence, and midfield where games are won and lost. The two worthwhile signings, Franck Moussa being the most recent, don`t contribute to a full squad.
Our team is touring Belgium and Spain. Bob Peeters has hopefully picked a team that will yield and find a common cause to bind together as one. We shall see. The signs are good and show that we may be heading in the right direction; I`m not entirely convinced. I have been accused of being far too pessimistic. If I am wrong, I will eat humble pie in way of an apology.
