Transfer Window Shut!

Some people will say that we are mad to turn down West Ham’s bid of £18 million. I don’t agree. If Darren ends up firing us to Premiership safety, then it will be a wise move by the board.

New Recruits:

Charlton made four new additions to the playing squad.

Zheng Zhi joined on loan from Chinese side Shandong Luneng, until the end of the season with a view to making the move permanent.

Ben Thatcher came in from Man City for £500,000. The left back has gone straight into the side and has put in some steady performances.

Charlton’s most expensive addition was the capture of Sheffield Wednesday defender Madjid Bougherra for £2.5 million.

The last player to join the squad in this transfer window was Arsenal youngster Alexandre Song. The 19-year-old from Cameroon has joined on loan until the end of the season.

Through the exit doors:

Back up goal keeper Stephen Andersen was sold to Danish side Brondby at the start of January for a fee of £650,000.

Next to go was Charlton flop Traore. After some awful displays in the red shirt Alan Pardew cleared him off to Pompey for £1 million.

Simon Walton made a deadline day move to Championship side Cardiff City. The former Leeds man had only just returned from a similar deal at Ipswich. Walton will return in the summer.

Young Frenchman Kelly Youga also made an exit with a move to Bradford City on loan for the rest of the campaign.

The last exit from the Addicks was Jon Fortune’s move to Stoke City. The big defender has joined Stoke for the rest of the season.

So that is that. No more comings and goings we`re stuck with what we’ve got now to try and keep us in the top flight. Fasten your seat belts it’s going to be a real rollercoaster ride.
