“Things are progressing nicely” – Thomas Sandgaard updates fans as he starts talks with Roland Duchatelet

|

We have been in contact with Charlton’s potential new owner Thomas Sandgaard again as he battles to buy the club weaving his way through two of the most complicated sets of owners that Charlton has ever had.

Can you get 32/32 on this Charlton player of the year quiz? I bet you can’t, but feel free to prove me wrong!

Who won player of the year in 2020?

Vital Charlton can today reveal that talks between Duchatelet and Sandgaard are ‘progressing nicely’ and as are the talks with ESI over acquiring the running of the club.

I asked Thomas about the progression with the sale of the club and here is what he had to say

“Yes, there are a lot of developments and things are processing nicely. The same is the case regarding Roland Duchatelet.”

Roland Duchatlelet currently owns The Valley and the training ground (Sparrows Lane) with the asking price believed to be around £50million, whilst counterparts ESI currently run the club.

It’s going to take a lot of work for the Danish businessman to deal with these two parties, but we just have to keep the faith that he can get a deal over the line.

However, Charlton was hit a potential blow yesterday evening as Richard Cawley revealed that Paul Elliott plans to get an injunction which will block anyone from being able to sell ESI and the club.

Thomas believes that it shouldn’t be a problem getting the injunction dismissed

“It doesn’t look like there is going to be a problem getting Elliot’s injunction dismissed quickly. There are many other examples from similar cases where that was the outcome. No guarantees that we will get the desired outcome in the end but I am as determined as ever to make it happen!”

One of those similar cases is Laurence Bassini who tried to place an injunction over Bolton Wanderers last season which was successful at first, but then amended later on which led to the sale of the fellow former Premier League side.

So far more positive news coming from Sandgaard’s point of view, talks seem to be progressing well at this point and he seems very keen to get a deal over the line. Let’s just hope Paul Elliott doesn’t get in the way.
