The Race For A Keeper

If Charlton are going to bring in a new goalkeeper on loan before the game against Tranmere Rovers tomorrow the race is now well and truly on.

Injury to Rob Elliot, who will miss the next month leaves Ross Worner as the number one at this point in time. Signing someone as cover (at least) for Worner is what Phil Parkinson is looking to do and he has until midday on Saturday to do this and phone calls have been made, Parkinson said: “We need somebody in and there are a few options.

“Ideally we would like Ross to play on Saturday but there are four or five calls I will be making to determine which way that goes.

“We’ve got until 12pm on Saturday to bring someone in. The timescale isn’t the problem, it’s getting the right keeper in.”

One player that The Addicks have been linked with is former Colchester United goalkeeper Dean Gerken. Gerken is now with Bristol City but played under The Addicks boss for The U’s, however this has been ruled out by all accounts.
