The Fears and Concerns.

I read every day about the urgency and the frail line up that may represent us come the new season. Will we still be vulnerable in some positions that make up a successful team worthy of the Championship that our predecessor Jose Riga fought to the end to maintain?
Granted, there has been some movement on this front. Many supporters I have spoken to, are still very sceptical about who is going to be on the field of play come our usual game with the Conference side Welling Utd.
I share their sentiments and frustrations in the way things are developing.
Bob Peeters has a vision for our club and good for him. I hope this vision will make us a force to be reckoned with, because no matter how laid back our supporters might appear, let`s face it, we have put up with some bad decision in the past that would never be tolerated in some of the continental leagues without some rebellious reaction.
Teams need to yield, players need to get to know each other, but how can this be achieved if there is no unity? A solid team is something that starts on the training ground and will not happen overnight.
One positive move is the re-sign of Michael Morrison, Harry Lennon and 17 year old Joe Gomez. Although he is very young and needs guidance, we hope for the best!
To conclude, we need players who are up to the challenge, Diego Poyet was one of them coming through the ranks; alas he decided there was no future with Charlton after eight years with the club. I wish him luck, as will many who watched him play, but in hindsight, another year with us would have benefited him to develop his skills to a higher standard. I fear now he might linger in the reserves when he goes to the big boys.
The clock is ticking, time stands still for no one and we need to be ready.
Will we?
