Charlton will face Spurs in the third round of the FA Cup after overcoming Luton 3-1 in the second round replay at Kenilworth Road.

Having fallen behind the chances of an upset were on however the equaliser from Scott Wagstaff just before half time proved the decisive moment as we then went on to score twice more in the second half.

Phil Parkinson knows that we can play a lot better and the performance wasn’t really good enough, however that goal (and it’s timing) proved crucial, Parkinson told ESPN: “Our first half performance wasn’t good – we were making bad decisions on the ball and we were second best. The goal we scored just before half-time was crucial and, in the second half, we put in a much improved performance.”

The second half showing was much better and showed a better level of professionalism, with The Hatters’ goal most probably acting as a wakeup call with Wagstaff’s equalising goal then giving us incentive, he added: “In the first half, I thought we were tense on the ball and that we needed to relax when we were in possession, maybe because we were looking at a trip to White Hart Lane and we forgot about putting in a performance.

“But in the second half we were very professional and we could’ve have claimed a couple more goals in the end.”

We’ll now face the trip to White Hart Lane to face Spurs on Sunday January 9th.
