Now is The Time to Wise Up

Wise up Karl. Our team is not good enough. Having been in a good position to challenge for the summit, we are now in real danger of slipping out of the top six. The last two loses were our own doing. What is the use of playing good football when the end product brings about another loss?

Karl Robinson is starting to repeat himself in every interview after another defeat. We deserved more he is quoted in saying after this latest defeat by Blackburn Rovers. Sure, I would be the first to agree with his comment if by saying these words they actually bring about the desired win.

Blackburn Rover are a good side and a real contender to finish in the top two. Charlton who themselves were in a commanding position could and should have been up with the leaders after a run of nine games undefeated but have let themselves down by not upping the ante when playing teams who are struggling at the foot of division one.

I can`t help casting my mind back to those two games where we lost to bottom teams that these loses might still come back to haunt us. Gillingham and Plymouth. Where are these two now, propping up the rest of the division? Since then we have lost to more lower teams which is inexcusable and Karl still does not blame his players. Rubbish. Whose fault is then? If the players are not at fault, then it must be Robinson`s.

At the rate we are losing games, we will be lucky to have a middle table spot come May. Wise up indeed. Karl can`t keep using the excuse, we have many injuries. If this is so, bring someone in to deputise to fill the much needed gap. I don`t want to hear excuses in why we are not getting results.

The transfer window is looming so get in there and secure one or two decent player`s goal scorers would do nicely. But first it would help if our league position is better to show that our course is on track. It really is not impossible for the Addicks even though as Karl Robinson puts it, we have some doubtful and having to introduce young players who are not yet ready for the first team.

That might well be true. But in the bigger picture of things what has he to lose. Many of our first team players are just not geared up to play ninety minutes of football. Most of them pick themselves because they are confident that their position is secure. Robinson should exercise his authority and leave out those who have a problem playing for the club. The supporters can see who wants to make the difference and those who just turn up.

The last few games the team was not good enough that was reflected in the outcome of all those games. To watch these games was very frustrating and they had the feel of a bygone era when the Addicks lost week in week out. Do we really want does days to return, we the supporters don`t, the club does not want to return to those dark days either I`m sure. The key to success lays at Robinson`s feet first and the players second. He sees what we the supporters see and in short should have enough balls to push his concern on to the directors who must also see how the team is struggling just of late.

The club owes us a better season many would say. I personally can`t argue with that. We had some good times since the turn of the Millennium and with the right attitude on and off the pitch, there is no reason why the Addicks can`t mix it with the big boys again. Hard work and one hundred percent commitment is the way forward there is no other way.
