Charlton have extended their unbeaten run to 4 games as we drew 0-0 with Nottingham Forest at the City Ground in mediocre performance.

Guy Luzon kept faith in the team that drew 1-1 with Derby on Saturday and they probably did disappoint the travelling fans in performance wise mainly because striking the ball did not go how every Charlton fan would have wanted it to go. Simon Makienok headed over a few times and Tony Watt looked absolutely knackered when he was taken off for Reza Ghoochannejhad just goes to show he likes to run around a lot.

Forest came close after an initial error from Simon Makienok as he headed the ball back in to the box and landed around the penalty spot but thankfully the shot from Matt Mills was blocked otherwise Simon could have been in more trouble than he was much more trouble.

I think the back four played best in this game as many shots were blocked and Nick Pope hardly had to work except for a couple saves but all I can say is that we defiantly have a solid defence and with Solly starting to reach his peak and Bauer developing as he reaches his mature age the future looks bright for our defence and I hope it stays this way.

At times we did have some impressive periods of play but there was more disappointing ones than impressive ones as we gave away the ball way too easily and gave them too much room for them to attack and the stats tell it all about our performance. It can be compared to last week`s draw at the iPro as Derby completely outnumbered us with their shots as they had 27 and we finished the game with just 10 and in this game once again we had 10 and Forest managed to get 20 with most of them being blocked by our brick wall of a defence which sometime lacked the cement needed to hold it together at times in the game but mainly stayed strong throughout.

I think the real problem was that the midfield lacked the steel needed to hold back the Forest insurgence and that is a crucial thing that we need to work on, don`t get me wrong we do have a good midfield but they are too focused on the attacking side of the game and they need to focus more on not letting the opponents through so easily.

Another talking point of the game cult hero Reza Ghoochannejhad was taken off 20 minutes after being brought on as a substitute for Tony Watt.

It’s a shame because he was playing really well last night namely having that one chance after Makienok’s cross came to him but his shot was blocked, no one really seems to know what happened when he was taken off but it was obviously an injury but how it happened no one really knows.

We had another chance later on in the game as Karlan Ahearne-Grant had a great chance to get a 90th minute winner but was blocked after he saw a slight view of an open net late on in what was a surprisingly entertaining 0-0 draw.

What did you think of the game? What do you think Charlton need to improve on?
