Charlton midfielder is closing in on a move to Premiership new boys West Brom.
The two sides have been locked in talks over the transfer of the China captain for the past few weeks.
Talks were delayed by the fact that Zheng was on international duty at the Olympic games with his country. Now he is back The Baggies are keen to secure their target.
Hull were also interested in the playmaker but Zheng has made it known he preferes a move to the midlands side.
The only stumbling block that lays in the way is an agreement of the fee. Charlton are holding out for closer to £3M for the China star while West Brom want to pay closer to £2M.
Addicks boss Alan Pardew has also made it clear that he is trying to sign Sunderland’s Paul McShane on loan to Bolster his defence.
