Looking Ahead to Norwich

Beating Colchester United on Tuesday was a must as this, first and foremost consolidated our League 1 play-off push yet it also kept us in the race for automatic promotion too.

Next up this Saturday we have another game at The Valley as the current League 1 leaders Norwich City come to town. They have struggling for form of late with the huge gap they’d opened up at the top of the table being closed by the game.

Phil Parkinson knows how important that win was over The U’s but also know how tough The Canaries will be (and how different a proposition), even so The Addicks boss is looking forward to it, Parkinson told The Official Website: “It will be a different type of game against Norwich. Tonight was a battle, Saturday will be more of a football game I’m sure.

“Throughout the course of the season, especially in this division, you have to win all types of football matches. You’ve got to beat the teams like Colchester and then say ‘cor, that was a horrible game but we’ve won’.

“On Saturday, Norwich come into town and they get the ball down and play. It will be an interesting football match and another one we’re looking forward to.”

Securing a play-off spot it the priority and a victory at SE7 on Saturday would do this however (even if it’s unlikely) I’ve not given up on automatic promotion so a win over Norwich not only increases our chances of getting that second spot but also opens up the outside chance that we could still go up as champions?
