Long-Term Solly Commitment

Sometimes it is hard to remember that Chris Solly is just 22-years-old as he seems to have been involved with Charlton for some long now. At least around the first team squad anyway.

Often the right back is linked with a move to a club higher up the footballing pyramid, with West Ham thought to be keen admirers on at least one occasion.

Solly will add plenty more appearances to the 122 (made since his debut in 2009) that he has already made for Charlton having signed a new four-year contract with the club this week that will take him through until 2017.

Chris Powell is of little doubt that he deserves this new contract and will continue to improve, he said: ‘It’s fully deserved after his exploits over the last couple of seasons.

‘He’s an academy product that has blossomed in the side and has gone from strength to strength.’

With this contract now committed to Powell feels that Solly can “concentrate on his football”, which he can and if he performs as he is capable of who would bet against him scooping the player of the year at the end of the season again, having done so in each of the past two seasons!

Solly most definitely has a great future ahead of him, it has been a top career already with him certainly that “premier league class” that Powell has rated him as being but the main thing is he is committed to the Addicks so even if another club wants him this long term contract (for what they are worth) works in the clubs favour and leaves them in a stronger position.
