“I’d take him all day long” – Charlton fans discuss the possibility of signing out of contract forward in the summer

|

One name that has fallen way of favor in recent years is Jordan Rhodes, he has struggled to keep up with his high goalscoring record at Sheffield Wednesday compared to when he was at Huddersfield for example, but with the quality in him looking for a way to get out, could Charlton be a good next move for him?

Can you get 20/20 on this Charlton Academy Players quiz? I bet you can’t, but feel free to prove me wrong!

Who is this?

Back in the day when Rhodes was in his early twenties, he was a striker that goalkeepers would fear, he was very highly regarded in League One and when he made the move to Blackburn Rovers he proved he could do it in the Championship as well scoring 27 goals in his debut season in England’s second tier.

But a lot has changed since those days for Rhodes, the changing point in his career was his move to Middlesbrough he just wasn’t the same it looked like he lost his confidence and lost the player who he was and since his move to Wednesday, he has only scored 10 goals in the last three years and from what people expect of Rhodes that is not a very good number of goals.

Would you take Jordan Rhodes on a free?

Yes

No

He’s 30-years-old now and he’s entering the backend of his career, but we all know the player he can be and I think he could pick it up if he got the right move where he can be the main man again and of course a good manager, could that be Lee Bowyer?

I think he would be a good fit at Charlton, both parties are looking to get back on track and if he is surrounded by a team who all want the same thing I think he could react to that and bring himself back and he is out of contract after June as well so why not!

Of course, this is all banking on us getting decent owners who will offer players a good Championship wage.

We asked the Charlton fans on Twitter if they think Jordan Rhodes would be a good fit and here is what you all had to say!
