A dreadful afternoon for Charlton at the home of their fiercest rivals. A bright opening faded as the Addicks capitulated to an ultimately rampant Lions team. Charlton held the ascendancy for much of the opening period without seriously threatening to score.

A free header from a right-wing corner gave Darren Ward the opportunity to score against one of his former clubs two minutes before the interval.

Millwall scored three times in seven minutes during the last quarter of the game to complete a woeful afternoon for the Addicks.

With a tough run-in they will be looking anxiously over their shoulder in the coming weeks.
