Charlton man weighs-in on Addicks players who are refusing to play

Jason Pearce is a great example of leadership and commitment, it’s great having someone like that around Charlton who can set an example for the younger lads such as Alfie Doughty and Albie Morgan who are currently in and around the first-team.

Who was Charlton's first-ever manager?

I think after showing this amount of commitment to the club it must be making the ones who have not returned to training feel a little bad about themselves as they sit at home watching the game off the TV.

I know for a fact if I did refuse to turn up for training that I would feel a lot of regret watching the boys out there together and winning the most important game of the season so far.

The skipper weighed in with his views on the players who have not turned up to the South London Press and here is what he had to say

“It’s been spoken about a lot. I just feel, from a player’s point-of-view, I understand where, again I’m bringing Lyle into it, I understand where the lads are coming from. Some people have to take that stance. They’ve got to look after themselves and their family.

“On the other hand, from my point-of-view as a player and a teammate, I want them to be playing – they’re going to help us and benefit our team. But as soon as Bow said they’re not going to be involved, it just brings everyone together. We know what we’ve got and we’re going to fight for each other and I think that showed today.”

I feel like after all of this there will be a better feeling of togetherness in the squad, they all know who they are and that they are committed to the club whether they are on loan or in the final year of their contract, they made sure that they didn’t let the team down and if even if we do go down this season at least we know the names of the players who went down fighting and that we salute every one of them who are doing their jobs.

We are not a club for people who are prepared to let the side down, Charlton needs committed individuals in the side no matter what the situation is because it’s always hard either playing for Charlton and even supporting them because of the situations in the backroom but when things go right at this club it’s a glorious place to be.
