Charlton looking for consistency

Before the game with promotion hopefuls Leicester City, Charlton had hit a bit of a blip.

No victories in four games and three defeats and meant that some fans had started looking over their shoulder at the relegation battle, just to double check that we weren’t getting dragged into the messy end of the table.

Victory over Leicester City could prove to be a crucial three points, it bumps us back into the top half of the table and with a bit of momentum, who knows where we could end up?

Yann Kermorgant and Danny Haynes’s goals have left us 12th in the Championship table, the play-offs still look out of reach with Middlesbrough in sixth, eight points ahead, but with eight points also separating us and Wolves in the relegation places that shouldn’t be much of a concern either.

‘I’ve done the double over Leicester and my mentor and I don’t know how to feel really. I’m pleased for my club and pleased for my group of players. We needed a result and they were made to work hard for it.’ Charlton gaffer Chris Powell told the BBC after the game.

He continued: ‘It’s huge because we had lost three games and drawn one in our last four. We’ve been playing well but we’ve just been getting hurt by late goals. It’s fallen for us this evening.

‘You just hope that they can continue to build on that and we’re just looking for consistency. I hope this is the start of a really good run for us.’
