Charlton Face Stern Test

Can Charlton press on following their impressive second half display against Leyton Orient? They could scarcely have a tougher test.

Southampton are on a roll and Nigel Adkins’ team have their eyes firmly fixed on an automatic promotion spot.

On Saturday they recovered from a two goal deficit against promotion rivals Milton Keynes Dons to win 3-2. Southampton are a big, strong, powerful unit who have built up momentum at just the right time.

Charlton have a few injury worries. Elliot turned his ankle, Wright-Phillips also picked up a minor knock but Chris Powell is likely to be able to field an unchanged side. Gary Doherty has recovered from illness and Joe Anyinsah may be available after recovering from the minor injury he sustained at Rochdale.

Charlton may look like this:

Elliot; Solly, Dailly, Llera, Bessone; Wagstaff, Semedo, Parrett, Racon; Benson, Wright-Phillips.

Subs: Sullivan, Francis, Doherty, Reid, Eccleston, Nouble, Anyinsah.

The referee will be Tony Bates from Staffordshire.

A tough evening beckons with Powell probably happy to settle for a point
