Phil Parkinson had previously said that a deal for Jon Fortune to return to Charlton was unlikely, however his assistant Tim Breacker has now revealed that talks are ongoing.
Fortune has been training with The Addicks since leaving Sheffield United but wasn’t expected to return to SE7 on a permanent basis, however having assessed the 30-year-old in recent weeks it’s been decided that a deal will be offered to him, Breacker said: “We’re working on that one and there is a possibility he could re-sign.
“Centre-half is a position we need to cover. He was at the club when it was in a higher division and he played in the Championship last season, so maybe his sights were to try to get back there by using us to get fit.
“We were quite happy for him to do that, but now we’re looking at him and thinking it would be good if we could get him in.”
We know what we are getting with Jon who probably wishes he’d never left SE7 in the first place as he found out that the grass isn’t always greener!
