The fight is almost upon us and Charlton need to be ready to put it all on the line to survive in this unpredictable league, we are also preparing for life without Lyle Taylor and one man whose name is bound to be mentioned a lot in these next nine games in none other than Macauley Bonne.
Can you get 31/31 on this Charlton player of the year quiz? I bet you can’t, but feel free to prove me wrong!
The 24-year old has had a good start to life in SE7 scoring 8 times in 24 games while providing 2 assists which is not bad at all seeing as he just made the jump from the National League to the Championship.
Bonne scored his first goal for Charlton against Leeds United back in September and it was scrappy to say the least, however grabbing his first goal for the club motivated him on to become better and better as each game went on. Yes, mistakes were made here and there, but I think he is a quick learner.
Do you think Macaulay Bonne can replace Lyle Taylor?
Yes
No
The goals have been drying up a bit for Bonne of late as he has scored just 2 in his last 10 games, which is something he will need to improve on if we are going to stay up this season, I think he has the quality to step up and do just that.
It’s obviously not going to be a walk in the park for Bonne, however from what we have seen he is a quick learner and can be very strong in his hold up play and if quick players like Jonny Williams can get into the box while he’s holding it up it could make for a clear-cut chance whenever we need it.
If he can use those qualities in every game then we have ourselves a great player here not only can he bring goals he can dictate the game up top too.
We asked the Charlton fans on Twitter if they think Macauley Bonne can replace Lyle Taylor and here is what you all had to say!

It’s in his hands to show he can; from what little I’ve seen there is good reason to believe he will be up for it

Scored 8 goals so far this season he defo can do the job for us uptop

Not yet. Still time to go get there but isn't in Taylor's level yet.

Yes he does we dont need a sulking Taylor who would have played out the normal season without even thinking about covid 19.

Yes. I think we need to just get behind the boys who still gaf and show we are not a one man team. Leave LT to do his thing… I believe we can pull it out the bag without him! Just need our defence to tighten up big time 😂

Still a rough diamond but shown his commitment to improve and work under bows and JJ. He will do well

He will need good service. Top finisher if given opportunities. Can’t do it all on his own though.
