What we could do with this international break could be very important for the future

The international break is upon us and to be honest, I actually like that there is one now after a really hard week involving three tough games against, Portsmouth, Burton Albion and Bristol Rovers. Now, most of our team get a good rest, but that’s not the only thing we could use this international break for. Imagine the boost the players would have if they came back to Sparrows Lane with Lee Bowyer and Johnnie Jackson finally signing new contracts ahead of the final push.

The atmosphere there would be boosted amazingly, and the team spirit would be higher than it is now with those two committing their future to the club. If that gets done there will be a lot more players happily signing on I think, Bowyer and Jacko have done a fantastic job this season and definitely deserve a good few years on their contracts at The Valley.

The next eight games are going to be HUGE for the club’s future as failure to gain promotion could come back on us severely as most of our players will be out of contract this summer and if we don’t gain promotion to the Championship it could spell the end for those particular players and with them all leaving on free agents it won’t pump any money back into the club and with Roland’s recent record of spending we will no hope of promotion next year unless our youth team can really step up to the mark, but even then with the current regime they will probably be sold off in January at the first sign of doing well for Charlton.

Let’s hope the team come back from this international break unscathed and ready to go for the Bradford game on the 30th I hope to see you all there!
