Recent news has pointed towards Birmingham City being interested in a move for Charlton manager Lee Bowyer as Pep Clotet will be leaving St Andrews at the end of the season.
Can you get 20/20 on this Charlton Academy Players quiz? I bet you can’t, but feel free to prove me wrong!
Lee Bowyer has had to put up with it all at Charlton since he became caretaker manager back in 2018 taking over from Karl Robinson as he opted for a move to Oxford United to get away from the owner troubles at The Valley.
Bowyer managed to take the side from 13th into the playoff places but was knocked out in the semi-finals by Shrewsbury Town, however, the next season would be one to remember despite Roland Duchatlet’s reign still raining hard on the parade.
Bowyer led the team to the playoff final and secured promotion to the Championship via a dramatic final against Sunderland at Wembley where Patrick Bauer scored a 94th-minute winner to send the Addicks fans into dreamland.
Doing all of that by spending nothing really is something special and will be something a lot of teams will pick up on and now the recent owner struggles are making it even harder for Bowyer to do his job, but he can he pull it off again by keeping Charlton in the Championship? I think he can come together with a masterplan.
Only thing is recent speculation has raised concerns that Bowyer could leave for his former club Birmingham at the end of the season and that would be a hammer blow for Charlton although it could pave the way for Johnnie Jackson to become manager, but I think Bowyer would want to take him with him.
I don’t think Bowyer would leave, his loyalty to Charlton so far has only proved one thing – he wants to stay for the long-term and that is something I’m sure every Charlton fan can get behind and I sure hope his loyalty is as good as it has been so far.
We asked the Charlton fans what they thought of the latest news linking Bowyer to Birmingham and here is what you all had to say!
