Diawara Giving it all That

Don’t you just hate it when former players go squealing to the press? Former Addicks defender Souleymane Diawara has done just that.

He has taken a dig at former Addicks bosses Iain Dowie and Les Reed, maybe fair enough, or is that harsh, as well as current boss Alan Pardew, with him coming in for the most stick: ‘At Charlton, I had three different coaches last year,’ Diawara told the media.

‘First there has been Iain Dowie, then Les Reed and finally Alan Pardew. The two first ones wanted the defenders to play long-ball and direct football in attack.

‘The third one, let’s say that he was?more English style. We had to try to play, but to throw the ball out a lot.

‘It is not like here. There, they do not want to take any risks and say the ball has to be in the other half of the pitch, not in ours.

‘At Bordeaux they ask us to start from the defence and to play. So it is a change and I prefer Laurent Blanc’s methods.’

It is just as well for Souleymane Diawara, who didn’t really set the world alight himself when he was here, that he was allowed to leave the Valley in the summer isn’t it. But I do hate it when players come out with this and that, particularly when it is several months after he’s left.

What is the thought among the Addicks followers on this site on Souleymane Diawara’s comments, and the player in general, what did we really make of him during his time at the Valley? Share these feeling below so we can discuss them.
