Bent Gunning for Arsenal

Former Addicks striker Darren Bent has seen his start to life with Spurs a frustrating one, but he is keeping in high spirits and is targeting Arsenal this weekend to get his season up and running.

Bent, who left for £16million, a club record for the amount paid out by Spurs, and received by the Addicks told the club’s (Spurs’) official website: “It’s not ideal to be injured and I’ve missed a couple of vital games but I’m back in training, I’m buzzing and I can’t wait to get going again.

“The injury was a blow. I’ve missed United, Fulham and the England games. It was a thigh strain that turned into a tear but I’m clear of it now and can’t wait to get going again.”

Having started his Spurs career quite well in pre-season, he opened his official account with Spurs against Derby, but has since been injured. He added: “But I managed to score against Derby and that meant a lot but all of a sudden I was out injured. As I said, it wasn’t ideal but I’m fighting fit now and raring to go.

“I’ve a lot of family who are either Tottenham or Arsenal fans and I know how much it means to them. When you watch the game on television you can see how much everyone is pumped up for it. I just hope to get some part of the game. I can’t wait for it.”

As much as it was a disappointment to lose Bent in the summer, I don’t think too many of us could be unhappy with what the Addicks got for him, which was, if we are honest way over the odds.

As I am new to the site, I missed the Darren Bent debate when he left, but what is/was the thought among the Addicks followers on this site on his leaving, and for the amount he went for? Share these feeling below so we can discuss them.
