Bent Gunning for Arsenal

Former Addicks striker Darren Bent has seen his start to life with Spurs a frustrating one, but he is keeping in high spirits and is targeting Arsenal this weekend to get his season up and running.

Bent, who left for £16million, a club record for the amount paid out by Spurs, and received by the Addicks told the club’s (Spurs’) official website: “It’s not ideal to be injured and I’ve missed a couple of vital games but I’m back in training, I’m buzzing and I can’t wait to get going again.

“The injury was a blow. I’ve missed United, Fulham and the England games. It was a thigh strain that turned into a tear but I’m clear of it now and can’t wait to get going again.”

Having started his Spurs career quite well in pre-season, he opened his official account with Spurs against Derby, but has since been injured. He added: “But I managed to score against Derby and that meant a lot but all of a sudden I was out injured. As I said, it wasn’t ideal but I’m fighting fit now and raring to go.

“I’ve a lot of family who are either Tottenham or Arsenal fans and I know how much it means to them. When you watch the game on television you can see how much everyone is pumped up for it. I just hope to get some part of the game. I can’t wait for it.”

As much as it was a disappointment to lose Bent in the summer, I don’t think too many of us could be unhappy with what the Addicks got for him, which was, if we are honest way over the odds.

As I am new to the site, I missed the Darren Bent debate when he left, but what is/was the thought among the Addicks followers on this site on his leaving, and for the amount he went for? Share these feeling below so we can discuss them.

Darren Bent is a really good footballer that we would have loved to have kept, but it was never going to happen was it. Even the most ardent of Addicks fans would have to admit that the £16million he went for was a ridiculously high amount, even so I think that he will do ridiculously well for Spurs too, quite possibly re-starting this weekend against Arsenal?

i hope he scores a hat trick, i have no arsenal defenders in my dream teams hehe….but i do have arsenal mids and forwards…i hope the score is 10-9 to spurs with darren getting all 10, and van persie and fabregas getting the other 9

There was a 6-3, or 5-4 whatever it was a few years back so you never know?

I hate Benty in a Yido shirt. But good luck to him.

The £16million recieved makes it a little easier to swallow though doesn’t it. I can’t stick the spuds, so I hate seeing most players in a spuds shirt but doing them by amking them pay over the odds made my day.

Even so its just not right. I blame Dowie for our relegation and i hope we stuff Cov soon
