On a busy Thursday at The Valley the club have also announced a deal for China’s Zheng Zhi.

The China captain had a decent loan spell here at the end of last season and he has decided to make a permanent move to London.

Zheng, 26, has signed a permanent two-year deal from Chinese side Shandong Luneng for £1.25m – rising to £2m on appearances.

Charlton had also announced the signing of MK Dons striker Izale Mcleod and Alan Pardew was very pleased with his day`s business.

‘I’m delighted to sign Izzy and Zheng,’ said Pardew talking to www.cafc.co.uk. ‘I felt in the group of strikers that we had, we lacked someone with genuine speed and pace to stretch teams.

‘Izzy is going to offer us that and I also feel that he is ready for the step up. He’ll come into our pool as one of the strikers hoping to get us 25 goals.

‘He’s capable of that and his challenge now is to achieve that.’

Pardew added: ‘Zi Zi came to us last season, and his return to us now in the Championship is a huge boost to me, the squad and the club.’

Not a bad day`s work by the gaffer and many Charlton fans now believe the team has plenty of goals within it.
