Wirral Disappointed

The three home games were supposed to see Charlton harvest nine points. The reality is the team played poorly in all of the games and took just four.

New boy, Kyel Reid was the bright spot on another desperately disappointing afternoon.

The hosts dominated a scrappy first-half but again fell behind to a goal shortly after the break. They showed their customary resillience to draw level inside ten minutes and Burton spurned a glorious chance to snatch a late winner. Burton had missed another gilt edged chance in the first-half though the visitors hit the underside of the bar late on.

Sodje was credited with an own goal when he deflected a header past Randolph, on as a substitute for the injured Elliot. Bailey applied the finishing touch to Burton’s knockdown from a left-wing corner.

Parkinson will have much to ponder before Tuesday’s trip to Walsall.
