Wingers Return Is Getting Closer

|

Billy Clarke is a name that has not featured in the squad since December, but the Irishman’s return is getting closer than ever. Clark has been playing for the U23s and he was in the squad on Monday to face Ipswich Town.

Clarke played well in that game and for someone who has not played for ten months this is obviously going to be a challenge for him to get around, but he showed that he can hold his own he has not forgotten how to do that at least. He had many touches in that game that can show off his ability, is it enough for the first-team though?

It has been a long-awaited return for the Cork man but he needs to show what he can do because this could easily be his final season at Charlton and honestly I don’t want that if he can show some class in his attacking play, that’s what we need him for.

Personally I think after all this time out of football and the effort he has gone through to get back to full fitness he is not going to go out on that pitch and not give 100% anything less than that and it could be his last season here as we have been patient with him and we have given him time to recover so hopefully he will be assisting and scoring in no time.

Clarke will feature of Friday for the U23s again against Coventry City.
