Why Jason Pearce’s injury is taking longer than expected

|

It’s been a while since our skipper Jason Pearce has been in the starting line-up since he injured his ankle, he was on the bench against AFC Wimbledon but since Naby Sarr’s resurgence in centre-back, it feels like we haven’t been missing Jason at all.

It would be nice to see Pearcey back, but Lee Bowyer has already made it clear that he will not be dropping Naby Sarr for Jason Pearce, seeing as they both play with a left-foot they also won’t be playing alongside each other either.

Unfortunately Jason Pearce’s injury has suffered a setback and Richard Cawley from the South London Press spoke with Lee Bowyer regarding this: “His ankle was still hurting him so we said there is no point you just keep playing through this at the moment, if there is anywhere we are strong at the moment it is that position – we’ve got Krystian Bielik who can fill in there and Anfernee Dijksteel. He just landed funny on the bottom of his back and hurt his coccyx – he’ll be fine”

It’s a shame he has suffered a new problem which is not unlikely with our defenders as Lewis Page added a tendon problem on top of his groin issue and he could miss the rest of the season, now Pearce has injured his coccyx, not a nice thing to have I must say.

Hopefully the both of them can recover and we can finish the season with a fully fit squad.
