Aston Villa left back Jlloyd Samuel has been linked with a move to The Addicks. According to The Independent, Alan Curbishly is lining up a January transfer window swoop for the young defender. Samuel is London born and good friends with Gunners left back Ashley Cole. It appears, having been an ever present for a number of seasons, that he has struggled to retain his form and early promise. He also struggled with a few injuries late last season and through this season. He is currently playing with a shoulder injury. Samuel has slipped down the pecking order at Villa following the arrival of Dutch international Wilfred Bouma, although is currently playing due to Bouma being injured.

Alan Curbishly isn’t the only manager to be linked with the player as reports suggested Rafael Benitez was also lining up a bid to take the player to Anfield.

Meanwhile, reports in The Times suggest Bryan Robson might be eyeing up a move for midfielder to shore up West Bromwich Albion’s underperforming midfield.
