It’s being reported today that striker Igor Vetokele has now brought the curtain down on his time at The Valley and moved to Belgian side Zulte Waregem.

News Shopper report that it is a 12 month loan deal initially, but there is a built in option to turn the deal permanent come the end of the 2016/17 campaign.

Having joined from Copenhagen back in 2014, he scored eleven times in his debut season at Charlton, but last year was blighted with injury and fitness problems, taking in only 18 games with a return of two goals.

It seems Russell Slade prefers his own striking options moving forward with the signing today of Lee Novak, and the speculated signing of Nicky Ajose shortly – so Vetokele will head to Belgium with the hopes of getting himself going again.

There were talks of a £1.5million move to Lokeren, but clearly nothing came of that.

His wages following relegation implied he would be moving on rather than staying, so it’s no great surprise in reality.
