Varney & Gibbs On Way Back

Addicks pair Luke Varney and Cory Gibbs were both back in action in a practice match against Crystal Palace this week.

Both players came through the match without any complaints. Cory Gibbs was substituted at half-time but this was planned as he still needs more time to regain match fitness. Gibbs is still yet to feature for Charlton after being out for the whole of last season.

Varney has also had to wait to make his full debut due to an ankle injury. The former Crewe man picked up the injury during our pre season programme. Varney completed the full 90 minutes and the match finished 0-0 at Sparrows Lane.

New signing, defender Sam Sodje, also played and he should make his debut away at Colchester next week.
