Time To Bounce Back

After a less than satisfactory second-half perfornmce on Saturday, the Addicks have a quick opporunity to put on a display for the Valley faithful tonight.

For the second week running, it was an entirely different post-interval performance from Charlton on Saturday. The slick, high tempo game that tore Dagenham apart early on was replaced by desperate long hoofs upfield. Not sure what goes on in the dressing room at half-time but it has the opposite effect of the Fergie hairdryer.

The Dons are just outside the play-off places having lost at Peterborough on Saturday. They have also tasted defeat at high flying Brighton and Carlisle but won at Walsall.

Worner, made some fine stops on Saturday though his lack of height is a concern. Fry may come in for Llera who, despite the goal, had a poor game against Dagenham. There are few options in midfield given the current injury situation so Scott Wagstaff will probably continue in his less favoured wide left role. Retaining Llera with Fry filling in at left-back and Jackson pushed further forward is another option.

If Anyinsah fails to make it, the manager has to choose between Akpo Sodje and Pawel Abbott if the latter is fit. Abbott has looked short of confidence recently so Parkinson may start with Sodje.

A tense, edgy night at The Valley beckons.

Vital Quotes:

Charlton Athletic Team News:

To compound matters for Phil Parkinson his side picked up injuries during the game. Already without Youga, Dailly and Elliot, he lost Abbott and McCormack prior to the match with Martin having to pass a fitness test.

Joe Anyinsah had to be replaced at the break, suffering from a back problem, with Kyel Reid also having to be replaced after sustaining a dead leg. Dailly, and possibly Elliot, should be available for Brentford but of the other walking wounded, Abbott is the most likely to feature tonight.

A tough game but we’ve got the ideal chance to bounce back and get all three points, even though we got a point on Saturday it felt like a defeat in many ways.
