Thomas Handed Warning by Pardew

Buck your ideas up or your days are numbered, is the warning that Addicks boss Alan Pardew has fired to Jerome Thomas.

Since coming off at half time against Colchester in the middle of the month Jerome Thomas, who had been arrested in Bournemouth the week prior, has not featured for the Addicks in the last two matches, but this is not the reason for his no shows according to Alan Pardew who told the media: ‘It is nothing to do with off the field activities, it is to do with the training ground and the discipline which is needed to get promotion.

‘The player needs to learn very, very quickly the discipline at this club in terms of how we work, how we lose and how we congratulate each other when we win.

‘There is a certain etiquette to that and that is why he is not involved at the minute.’

Once you allow a bad apple to upset the cart, not that I am saying that is what Jerome Thomas is by any means, this is just an analogy of the kind of thing that Alan Pardew is looking to guard against. He wants everyone pulling in the same direction, and doesn’t want anyone upsetting things, he went on to explain: ‘My experience at West Ham was not to create any negativity in any shape or form and not accept it.

‘I’m not going to accept it from any individual or any staff member.

‘If you are going to get promoted, it is not just about good players, a good chairman and about spending money, it is about organisation, discipline and having character in the team.

‘It is character I look at and if somebody’s character upsets me, I’m going to let them know.’

Jerome Thomas has bags of ability and potential, but he has not always fulfilled this, so now is the time for him to knuckle down and let his on the field antics do the talking now, and there is every chance he will return tomorrow night for the Carling Cup match with Luton.

It is time for Jerome Thomas to do his talking on the pitch, time for growing up and true potential to be reached, which I hope he can do as he has so much talent, which he will not want to waste.

Just hope he listens. Would be a shame to see him go to waste.

I would still like to see the guy stay, he has so much ability and potential it would be a shame to see it go to waste, although I fear it might anyway?
