A fifth goal of the season when he scored the winning goal in the JP Trophy win over Milton Keynes Dons on Tuesday saw Scott Wagstaff equal his tally from last season.

Phil Parkinson couldn’t praise the midfielder enough even though he admitted that he and we (the fans) might sometimes take for granted what he does as he does it so well and without any fuss, Parkinson told The Official Website: “He was in the box again so late in the game, and then you look up, and he’s back defending.

“That’s Scott Wagstaff.

“He ticks so many boxes to be a very, very good player. He’s got an incredible work ethic and discipline in his game. And those wide players who have got that are very difficult to find.

“Sometimes with Scotty we almost take that for granted, and our supporters might take that for granted as well.”

However, The Addicks boss has now challenged Wagstaff to continue his form and his development as this is something that only he can do, adding: “Every game this lad runs more than every other player, and not only that, he has scored five goals. It’s been a terrific start to the season, but he’s got to keep building on it.”

What is the thought among the Addicks followers on this site on Scott Wagstaff and the praise rightly given to him by Phil Parkinson? Share these feelings below so we can discuss them.
