Spring Ready to Fight

So long as he’s wanted at The Valley Matt Spring has said that he’s got no plans to leave Charlton, even on loan.

Spring has found it hard to hold down a regular place in the side and this has seen some rumour that he could move on but the midfielder says that unless Phil Parkinson tells him he’s not in his plans he’s going nowhere, Spring told skysports.com: “I’m not aware of any offers coming in for me this month, so unless I hear otherwise I’ll just focus on earning a recall to the side.

“If the gaffer came to me and said it is probably better if you go out and get some games, then I’d give it a go, but as far as I am aware I am needed here.”

Not playing as much as he wants is something that obviously frustrates Spring but he’s just going to keep working hard in training to get back into Parkinson’s first XI, Spring added: “It is frustrating, but I’m not one to moan about being left out of the side. I prefer to work hard in training and wait for my chance to show what I can do when selected.

“It is hard to watch from the sidelines when your side isn’t winning every week, but the gaffer makes team selections to go and win games and until I’m included in that I’ll just have to be patient.”

The 1-0 defeat at The Valley against Leyton Orient on Monday (our first League 1 defeat at SE7 this season) could see Parkinson ring the changes but even so Spring hopes this gives us the kick up the backside we might have needed!
