The Addicks went out of the Carling Cup in the week but we return to the most important thing this weekend, the Championship against Coventry, who themselves beat Man United. We come up against a familiar face in former Addicks boss Iain Dowie, which adds extra spice to the meeting with the Sky Blues.

Sky Blues Team News:

Dimi Konstantopoulos could return, but Andy Marshall kept a clean sheet in the Carling Cup win over Man United, so could keep the shirt.
Other changes are expected, but Robbie Simpson and Elliott Ward could retain their places.

Player to watch: Michael Mifsud

Michael Mifsud scored two goals against Man United in the Sky Blues 2-0 Carling Cup win at Old Trafford during the week, which took his tally to five for the season. If you don’t gain confidence from something like that you never will.

The Addicks Team News:

Nicky Weaver, Chris Powell, Danny Mills, Andy Reid, Zheng Zhi, Jose Semedo, Lloyd Sam, Chris Iwelumo and Luke Varney are some of the names that look likely to return to the Addicks starting line up after being rested for the Carling Cup defeat against the Hatters.
Matt Holland played the full Cup match as he steps up his return from injury, so he should make the bench at least.

Player to watch: Nicky Weaver

Nicky Weaver has been in fine form since signing for the Addicks in the summer, with him making last weeks Championship team of the week, and he could be a busy man against the Sky Blues so he will need to be at his best.

Match Facts & Stats

The last clash between the two clubs was a 2-2 draw in the Premiership in the 2000/01 season, with both meetings home and away ending with this result that season.
In all competitions, the head-to-head stats stack up like this with the Sky Blues having the advantage: the Addicks won 9, the Sky Blues won 12, draws 10.

Ref Watch:

Referee: N D Swarbrick

Assistants: P W Barnes and C L Pawson

Fourth Official: S Burt

Match Prediction:

So much is being made about the Addicks coming up against Iain Dowie, but that is a side issue in my opinion with it just another game, the result is much more important.
We are on a good run, so we will hope to continue this but a point would not be a bad return, so I will go for a draw.

Next Fixture

Hull at the KC Stadium on Tuesday.

Varying degrees of success for both sides during the week wasn’t it, but the real business returns in what looks like being an interesting game. We can win, but a point would not represent a bad result.

  • Charlton Addickt says:

A was happy with a point before the game, I can’t go back on this now so it was a good point to win from a good side.

  • Pardew is Sexy says:

You can always go back – things change, stuff happens that change our out look on things!!! But as I’ve said, at least we didn’t lose.

  • Charlton Addickt says:

I didn’t mean I couldn’t actually change that view, I meant that I was happy with it before and altohugh their is some disappointment obviously I’m still happy now really with a point.
