Semedo, What a Steal eh!

Alan Pardew snapped up Portuguese youngster Jose Semedo, Jose Victor Semedo to give him his full name, on a free transfer in the summer and he looks a real steal doesn’t he.

Jose Semedo, who played his part for Portugal in the recent European U21 Championships in the Netherlands, is a central defender by trade but in a short period during pre-season Alan Pardew turned him into a holding midfield player out of the legendary Claude Makelele mould.

Another impressive performance at the weekend against the Foxes in our 2-0 win saw him named in the Championship side of the week, along with Addicks team-mate Nicky Weaver.

The 22-year-old has been very impressive since coming to England to play for the Addicks and looks like being one of these free transfer signings, that maybe not too many people knew about, that come along every now and again.

Early indications are that we have plenty too look forward to and drool over during the next four and a bit years, at least, that he is plying his trade at the Valley. However, although this is hopefully something that will not have to happen, should he be sold on you can rest assured that he will go for a pretty hefty transfer fee, which would make his free transfer arrival even more of a steal.

What is the thought among the Addicks followers on this site on Jose Semedo? Have you been as impressed with him as I have, and how much more do you think there is to come from him? Share these feeling below so we can discuss them.
