Defender Naby Sarr has reportedly completed a season long loan move to French Ligue 2 side Red Star FC.

I can’t see any official confirmation from Charlton Athletic themselves yet, but the South London Press report that the 22 year old has now headed out on a loan deal as Charlton found it difficult to find a permanent suitor for the bigger money signing as a loan seemed preferable to taking much of a hit instantly on the fee we signed him for – said to be £1.5million from Sporting this time last year.

He follows Vetokele in being loaned out for the entire 2016/17 season and I guess when confirmation does come in, it’s a loan potentially with a buy clause involved.

Having come in last summer, he made only twelve starting appearances for the club, with a further three from the bench but he did return three goals.

His last appearance however came on January 9 in the loss to Colchester.
