The round of matches this weekend presents Charlton with an ideal opportunity to further close the gap on Brighton at the top. While the Seagulls face a tough trip to Huddersfield, the Addicks entertain struggling Walsall.

The Saddlers have won one, drawn one and lost five of their last seven league matches and were eliminated from the FA Cup at Torquay.

Charlton picked up one or two knocks on Thursday and Parkinson will assess how his side have recovered before naming his team.

Warranted there are no tired limbs from Thursday, Parkinson will expect his team to win. Any slip up by Brighton at the Galpharm will act as an added spur for the Addicks. This is a game they will expect win.

Vital Quotes:

Charlton Athletic Team News:

Christian Dailly will serve the final game of his four match suspension while Paul Benson and Rob Elliot are doubts. Benson has had a scan on the knee injury he picked up at Luton. It is not thought to be serious but Benson is unlikely to be risked, though the player himself expects to be available for Tuesday’s game at Brentford.

Lee Martin, Pawel Abbott and Akpo Sodje are the options with Martin likely to get the nod to play a slightly withdrawn role behind Joe Anyinsah.

Elliot injured a hip at Kenilworth Road and may have to settle for a place on the bench with Ross Worner deputising.

Player to watch: Johnnie Jackson

Despite taking the free-kick which sealed the win at Luton, Jackson had a quiet game. He will be looking to get back to his brilliant November form.

Walsall Team News:

Chris Hutchings has no fresh injury worries.

Player to watch: Paul Marshall
