Midfielder Ben Reeves has spoken of his delight at seeing Charlton Athletic secure a hard fought victory over former side MK Dons at the weekend.

Having largely dominated the first hour of the game at Stadium: MK, Charlton had a two goal advantage for a period following efforts from Ahmed Kashi and Josh Magennis, but the hosts did make a game of it having found the net through Kieran Agard inside of the final half an hour of the match.

That set up a nervy and tense end to the game as they went all out to find the equaliser but having stayed strong at the back we took all three points to move into sixth place in the League One table.

Speaking to the Official Site as he met with the media following the game, Reeves spoke of his delight at taking all three points and the confidence we can take from holding on at the end.

‘The most important thing was the win. Hopefully now we can kick on and get another three points in our next game. We need to keep focused; the performance today is only going to help us and now we need to take that into next weekend.’

Reeves went on to say.

‘We deserved the win and we knew that they would have a spell of pressure. We saw it out and, in particular, I thought Ahmed Kashi and Jake Forster-Caskey in midfield were outstanding. They were excellent in the last 15-20 minutes, which was great for us, and we had some great support from the stands as well.’

Having switched to a back three for the final 20 minutes as MK Dons increased the pressure, Reeves said everyone in the group would take a shot of confidence from seeing that period out given we’d let leads slip in our previous three matches.

‘Given what has happened in the last three games, where we haven’t seen them out, it gives us another option to help hold on to the points. Our shape was brilliant after we changed and we even still had the counter attack in us as well.’
