Former Leicester City striker and current Rangers starlet Joe Dodoo has signed on at Charlton Athletic until the New Year.

The 22 year old former England Under 18 international has penned a loan deal at The Valley until January 1 2018 and he becomes our seventh and final signing of the summer, following on from the arrivals of Billy Clarke, Mark Marshall, Tarique Fosu, Jay Dasilva, Ben Amos and Ben Reeves.

Manager Karl Robinson said of the player to the Official Site.

‘We have been looking for a striker that can complement what we already have. We have a big number nine in Josh Magennis and Joe gives us something different. I think fans will like him, he is quick, can stretch the game and get in behind defenders.’

He went on to add about our overall dealings this summer.

‘It has been a really pleasing summer for us in terms of the quality we`ve been able to add to the squad and the players we`ve been able to retain. I think everyone will have seen the talent some of our new signings have and we still have Mark Marshall and a fully fit Ben Reeves to come back in – two of the best players in the division last season. It has been a busy few days and our focus is now very much on Oldham Athletic this weekend.’

Dodoo began his career with Leicester and scored a hattrick on his senior debut in a Cup game against Bury, and pretty promptly went on loan to Bury such was his impressive on then manager David Flitcroft. He made the decision to part from Leicester to join Rangers at the start of last season in the search of greater game time, and he scored five goals for them in 25 matches.

The player himself said.

‘I`m really pleased to join Charlton. I can`t wait to get started and help the club`s promotion push.’

He is eligible to make his debut in this weekend’s clash against Oldham Athletic and not a bad bit of business from Charlton given Nottingham Forest were extremely heavily linked with him earlier this evening.
