Four new signings is what Phil Parkinson believes we need by the end of the transfer deadline.

Ideally the Charlton boss would like bring these in before the League 1 season kicks-off next weekend, however he realises this might not be possible. Two hoping to have done enough to earn contacts at SE7 are Guliaume Norbert and Guilliem Bauza, who both featured against Watford yesterday.

A decision on which trialists are offered contracts will be made shortly though, Parkinson told The News Shopper: “We`re close and when the time comes to make those decisions then we`ll let everyone know.”

Four is his magic number as he looks to end what’s been a frustrating summer for him on a high. The Addicks boss is happy with what he’s managed to do to the squad though, adding: “I`ve been quite clear with the numbers we need and we`ll probably need another four.

“Whether we can get them before Saturday is another matter but our chairman Richard Murray has been working extremely hard to assist me to do the deals that I want.

“We know who we`d like to bring in and they take a while to get over the finishing line but all the lads we`ve brought in we`re pleased with and will probably add a bit more quality to our squad.

“It`s been a frustrating summer but gradually as we get towards the season I can see this squad evolving in terms of playing together as a team which gets better as we go along.
“There`s going to be a lot of new faces in the starting eleven next Saturday but there`s some good characters and I`m really pleased with the additions we`ve made so far.”

The squad is looking a lot more healthy now, and competitive than it was a couple of weeks ago so I’m confident enough going into the new season. If another few players could be added then my confidence levels will grow yet further.

What is the thought among the Addicks followers on this site on Phil Parkinson’s views on what he’s looking to add to the squad? Share these feelings below so we can discuss them.
