Parkinson, Charlton Still in the Automatic Hunt

We might have been beaten at The Valley on Saturday, which secured Norwich City’s promotion but we could take a lot of heart from the game and can hopefully take this into our final games.

Victory was something that most of us felt we had to see for Charlton to stay in the race for automatic promotion but given the way other results went we’re still in the hunt for that second automatic spot. Phil Parkinson believes that if we carry on playing like we did against The Canaries then we have every chance, Parkinson told BBC Radio Kent: “We keep going. It’s all there to play for.

“We suffered a setback with defeat by Norwich but if we maintain Saturday’s second-half form we’ve got a chance.

If we keep having a go and keep getting the support that we did at The Valley on Saturday this is possible, Parkinson added: “In terms of belief, of being on the front foot and having a real go, we did everything from a decent structure and never left ourselves exposed.

“The fact that our supporters gave us such a big ovation at the final whistle told us everything. They knew how unlucky we had been and I was delighted with that response.”

With Leeds United and Millwall both losing and Swindon Town failing to win again this leaves it all to play for but we must beat Exeter City, Leeds and Oldham Athletic in our final three games to have any chance.

It might seem an outside bet for this but if we do what we have to and other keep slipping up it’s possible. We’ve got to achieve victory in all three on these games, even if it might not be enough but it’ll certainly give us a very good chance!

Win our remaining matches and you never know? I think it’s unlikely though personally.

Until it’s not possible I’m not giving up hope.

you just never Know…what a crazy season it’s been already…after Norwich got beaten 7-1 I for one would not have given them any chance of promotion, let alone an automatic one…Leeds seem to be doing their best to fall over at the business end of the season, and then Swindon and Millwall, sneek up on the outside rail…my nightmare scenario is playing and loseing to Millwall in the playoff final….however beating them would be a dream come true…
